Crash leaves driver dead, passenger hurt

One person is dead and another badly hurt after a car collided with a truck near Melbourne airport. (AAP)

Police are investigating a crash near Melbourne airport that has left motorist dead and a passenger badly injured.

A truck and a car collided at the Terminal Drive and Centre Road intersection at Tullamarine just after 2.30pm Wednesday.

The driver of the car died at the scene and has yet to be formally identified, while their passenger has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The truck driver was uninjured and is speaking to police officers.

Police say the circumstances of the crash are yet to be determined and their investigations are ongoing.

Anyone who saw the crash or what happened beforehand, or anyone who may have dashcam footage, is being urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

Victoria's road toll stands at 107 lives lost in 2021 so far.
