A pensioner crashed at Tesco car wash after suffering a medical episode behind the wheel of his car.
The dramatic scenes in Formby this morning saw the car hit the vehicle in front after the elderly driver was taken ill.
Police, ambulance and fire crews descended on the car wash at Tesco, in Altcar Road, just after 11am.
One stunned witness told the ECHO one of the cars ended up with its front wedged against a wall inside the car wash.
Merseyside Police said the driver of the Ford Focus in front has avoided injury but an ambulance had been called for the man in his 80s, whose Vauxhall Corsa struck the other car.
Police said it appeared he suffered a "medical episode" just before the two-car crash.
He was said to be "conscious and breathing" at the scene.
There is no reports of any major damage to the car wash or any closures as a result.
A delivery driver who was passing at the time told the ECHO: "I had just come off the bypass and saw car inside the car wash, it's one of the mechanical ones, and it looked like it had gone right and was resting against a wall inside.
"There was an ambulance and fire engine there. I've never seen anything like it."

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "We were called just after 11am to a traffic accident at the car wash at the Tesco service station in Formby involving a Vauxhall Corsa and Ford Focus.
"It appears the driver of the Vauxhall, a man in is 80s has suffered a suspected medical episode at the wheel and collided with the rear of the vehicle in front."

He added: "An ambulance was called but the man was conscious and breathing at the scene."
