Craig David has shared his 'pinch me' moment at the palace after performing at the Platinum Jubilee concert.
But the 41-year-old singer, who said it was 'an honour' to be asked to perform, couldn't help but cast his mind back to his last royal performance when he felt 'tensions' were high.
Speaking about his Commonwealth Day Service, which is understood to have been Prince Harry and Meghan's final event as senior royals in 2021, he said: " [There was] a lot of tension going on at that period of time."
The Grammy Award nominee added: "I always talk about how music is healing and a form of therapy. I could feel it cut through. There was a part where Harry looked up, Meghan looked up, I felt it really landed in their hearts."
Further commenting on the experience, he said: "It felt like that was the one moment where I was able to witness that."
Despite the previous performance for the Royals, David, who received an MBE for services to music last year, had nothing but praise for the firm and felt grateful to be part of the palace celebrations.
Speaking of the experience he added: “Being outside Buckingham Palace and then looking down The Mall and seeing that many people in it, you could feel that, not only for the amazing service that the Queen has done for 70 years, but the way in which everyone came together to celebrate as a nation over the last couple of years, with everything that’s gone on, you could feel that this was a celebratory moment for the whole country to get together and be together.
“So I was just grateful to be part of it”.
The singer and DJ, who first found fame with the release of his debut album Born To Do It in 2000, was accompanied by his mother Tina who was 'in awe' to meet Prince William and The Duchess of Cambridge.
Saturday night’s Platinum Party, staged in front of Buckingham Palace, also included performances from Sir Rod Stewart, Diana Ross, Duran Duran, Queen + Adam Lambert, was watched by 13.4 million, and an average audience of 11.2 million.
