Covid shock as young child 'fights for life' in Temple Street from coronavirus related PIMS after parents cases

An 11-year-old child was left "fighting for his life" from a Covid-related illness after his parents contracted coronavirus.

Young Bobby Lee's mum outlined on social media how the kid complained of headaches and a temperature before suffering diarrhoea and fatigue after she and her partner tested positive for Covid-19.

Bobby was rushed to Temple Street Hospital last week where he was left in a serious and worrying conditions from PIMS.

Paediatric Inflammatory Multisystem Syndrome is a rare but potentially deadly condition which has been described as a COVID-19 related illness found in children.

At one stage, medical experts believed that Bobby would need to be transferred to ICU but thankfully his condition stabilised without the need for intensive care.

He is currently on the road to recovery but is still on oxygen and has low mobility.

One family member warned others: "Every one be aware of this PIMS. Bobby is really ill in hospital at the moment. Please all, don’t ignore any symptoms and please keep Bobby in your prayers."

It comes after a Dublin schoolboy was rushed to ICU after suffering a 'belly ache' when he contracted the rare COVID-19 related illness.

Clondalkin youngster Tommy O'Brien complained about a pain in his tummy after injuring his finger.

The five-year-old was brought initially to Tallaght Hospital but after complaining of the pain and having a high temperature, doctors urged his family to bring him to Our Lady's Hospital in Crumlin.

When he arrived, he was diagnosed with PIMS too and was treated in ICU.
