Covid Scotland: Seven new deaths reported in past 24 hours and 1,686 cases

Seven new deaths of people who have tested positive for coronavirus have been reported in the past 24 hours in Scotland, the latest Scottish Government statistics have revealed.

A further 1,686 new cases of covid have also been reported since yesterday, representing 6% of the 31,462 new tests that reported results in Scotland.

In respect of hospitalisations, 529 people across the country were in hospital with recently confirmed cases of the virus, 51 of whom were in intensive care.

While in regards to vaccinations, 3,987,074 people have now received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 3,010,505 have received their second dose.

The latest daily stats come following the release of the National Records of Scotland weekly stats, which show that 47 deaths were registered that mentioned covid on the death certificate between July 12 and 18 - an increase of 16 deaths from the previous week.

11 of these deaths were reported in the Glasgow City area.

As at July 18, a total of 10,268 deaths have been registered in Scotland where covid was mentioned on the death certificate.
