Covid infections fall again in all areas of the Liverpool City Region

All areas of the Liverpool City Region have seen more falls in positive Covid tests.

According to the latest data from Public Health England, the Liverpool City Region (LCR) recorded 12,342 covid infections in the seven days ending January 22 - that's 2,674 fewer infections than the previous week.

So, that meant the LCR's week-on-week percentage change figure fell by 18%.

Every area of the city region has recorded falls in infections for the seventeenth day in a row.

The falls were: 23% in Knowsley; 22% in Liverpool; 11% in Halton; 20% in St Helens; 17% in Sefton; and 13% in Wirral.

Just beyond the city region land border, Warrington and West Lancashire recorded falls in positive tests in the week ending January 22.

But Cheshire West and Chester recorded a rise in positive tests - 7% in the week ending January 22, making it the third day in a row that Cheshire West and Chester has recorded an increase in positive tests.

The nation recorded an increase of 3% in infections in the week ending January 22.

Liverpool

Liverpool's positive tests came to 3,505 cases in the week ending January 22, which is 987 fewer cases than the previous week.

This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure fell by 22%.

The latest infection rate was 700.3 cases per 100,000 people.

Wirral

Wirral's positive tests came to 2,933 cases in the week ending January 22, which is 423 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure dropped by 13%.

The latest infection rate was 904.3 cases per 100,000 people.

Halton

There were 1,259 positive tests over the last week - that's 162 fewer cases than in the previous week.

This means the week-on-week percentage change figure dropped by 11% in Halton in the week ending January 22.

The latest infection rate is 970.3 cases per 100,000 people.

St Helens

There was a total of 1,440 cases in the week ending January 22, which is 348 fewer cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate in St Helens is 795.2 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure dropped by 20%.

Knowsley

There was a total of 1,147 cases in the week ending January 22, which is 333 fewer cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate in Knowsley is 752.4 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure fell by 23%.

Sefton

Sefton had a total of 2,058 cases in the week ending January 22, which is a 421 fewer cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 745.9 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases dropped by 17% week on week.

Liverpool City Region

There were 12,342 positive tests over in the week ending January 22, which is 2,674 fewer cases than in the previous week.

This means the week-on-week percentage change dropped by 18%. The latest infection rate is 724.83 cases per 100,000 people.

Warrington

There were 1,857 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending January 22, which is 197 fewer cases than the previous week.

The week-on-week percentage figure fell by 10%. There was an infection rate of 886.83 per 100,000 people.

West Lancs

West Lancashire recorded 1,000 coronavirus cases in the week ending January 22, which is 96 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

This meant there was a week-on-week percentage figure fell by 9%. The infection rate was 873.39 per 100,000 people.

Cheshire West and Chester

There were 3,654 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending January 22, which is 225 more cases than the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 1,062.76 cases per 100,000 people, and there was a week-on-week percentage rise of 7% in cases.

England

In the week ending January 22, England recorded 564,691 coronavirus cases, which is 16,528 more cases than in the previous seven days.

There was a week-on-week percentage rise of 3% in cases in England, and there was an infection rate of 998.57 per 100,000 people.
