COVID infection rate rises in Perth and Kinross to highest level since early April

The seven-day COVID infection rate in Perth and Kinross has risen to its highest level since the start of April.

According to data from Public Health Scotland, the infection rate from May 23 to 29 was 38.8 per 100,000.

That is the highest since April 5 when a rate of 39.5 was recorded.

It comes as the region prepares to take the step into more lenient level one COVID restrictions.

According to Public Health Scotland, there were 59 cases across the region in the seven days up until May 29, compared with 37 the previous week, when the infection rate was 24.4.

Blair Atholl, Strathardle and Glenshee has the highest infection rate in the region - 238.8 per 100,000 after 10 positive cases.

Muirton also has a high rate of 220.2 after eight cases.

Other areas recording injection rates are: Central and South Inch (133.7); North Muirton and Old Scone (127.4); Glenfarg, Dunning and Rhynd (82.9); Kinross (60); Viewlands, Craigie and Wellshill (51.9); Hillyland, Tulloch and Inveralmond (50.7);

However, Perth and Kinross did record no COVID deaths for the second week in a row last week, according to the National Records of Scotland.
