Covid in Scotland: 951 new cases and 38 deaths confirmed overnight

Today's Scottish Government statistics show there has been 951 new cases of Covid-19 recorded in Scotland in the past 24 hours.

This takes the total cases in Scotland to 96,762 and the today's figure reflects 4.5 per % of individuals newly tested.

There are currently 991 hospital, which is 30 fewer than Tuesday, with 68 of those patients currently receiving treatment in intensive care.

Nicola Sturgeon confirmed that, in the last 24 hours, there has been 38 new deaths in the last of patients who had tested positive for Covid.

The latest figures come as it emerged today that the the UK has become the first country in the world to approve the Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine.

Britain has ordered 40 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine and around 10 million could arrive by the end of the year, with mass immunisation starting next week.

According to a list that was revealed in a briefing with the UK's medicine regulator MHRA, residents in a care home for older adults and carers will be the first to be vaccinated.
