More than 200 areas in England have seen a rise in Covid cases in the last week, according to stark new figures.
The latest data for infection rates reveal that nearly two thirds of all local areas have seen an increase.
Of the 312 local areas in England, 203 (65 per cent) have seen a week-on-week rise in rates, while 106 (34 per cent) have seen a fall and three are unchanged.
Hull saw the highest rate with 1,621 new cases in the seven days to August 12 - the equivalent of 625.6 per 100,000 people.
This is up from 560.3 in the seven days to August 5.
Mansfield in Nottinghamshire has the second highest rate, up from 473.7 to 549.6, with 601 new cases.
Sedgemoor in Somerset has the third highest rate, up from 262.5 to 522.5, with 645 new cases.

The five areas with the biggest week-on-week rises are:
Sedgemoor (up from 262.5 to 522.5)
Isle of Wight (125.8 to 335.2)
North Devon (294.4 to 411.5)
Herefordshire, (134.8 to 247.4)
Staffordshire Moorlands (222.5 to 334.3)
It comes after self-isolation rules for fully vaccinated people in England were changed.
Double-jabbed contacts of Covid cases no longer legally have to isolate for 10 days if they are contacted by NHS Test and Trace, according to the new rules.
But an expert warned the UK could face another “large” wave this September amid concerns the rule change could bring about complacent behaviour.
SAGE member Prof Neil Ferguson told the BBC: “It very much depends on the extent to which people do take that advice and get tested.

“Inevitably lifting some measure like this will slightly reduce the effectiveness of contact tracing - but only slightly, so long as people do take the advice to get tested and if they’re positive, isolate.”
The latest figures, for the seven days to August 12, are based on the number of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in either a lab-reported or rapid lateral flow test, by specimen date.
The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.
Data for the most recent four days (August 13-16) has been excluded as it is incomplete and does not reflect the true number of cases.
The list has been calculated based on Public Health England data published on August 16 on the Government's coronavirus dashboard.
Here is the list in full:
