Covid Bristol: More than 50 new cases confirmed in region in 24 hours

Just less than 60 coronavirus cases were confirmed in the Bristol region in the past 24 hours, latest government figures show.

The data shows that Bristol was the area to record the highest number of covid cases (27), followed by North Somerset (14).

In comparison, 11 positive tests were recorded in South Gloucestershire and four in Bath and North East Somerset.

The news comes a day after data from the Department of Health showed the number of coronavirus patients being cared for in Bristol's hospitals has dropped to below 100.

The figures showed there are 97 people in our local hospitals who have tested positive for Covid-19, and 18 battling on ventilators.

  • Bath and North East Somerset - 8,034 (+4)

  • Bristol - 29,692 (+27)

  • North Somerset - 9,727 (+14)
