Covid-19 NI: Full breakdown as 3,100 test positive in past week

There has been one further death as a result of Covid-19 according to the Department of Health.

The department's daily dashboard says that there has been 726 new cases in the past 24 hours, with 3,100 new infections in the past week.

To date, 13,612 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 since the outbreak began.

Following the most recent death, 583 people have now died due to the virus.

The Derry City and Strabane area has seen the largest increase in new cases in the past seven days, with 721, followed by the Belfast area with 655 and Newry, Mourne and Down with 484.

The infection rate in Derry City and Strabane is currently 478.5 per 100,000 people.

In Belfast 1,026 people have tested positive for the virus in the past fortnight and 1,021 have tested positive in Derry City and Strabane.

Those aged 20 to 39 have seen the largest increase in new infections in the past week, with 1,327, followed by those aged 40 to 59 with 785 and those aged 0 to 19 with 633. There have been 63 new cases among those 80 and over.

As of midnight on October 1, there are 65 inpatients in hospital infected with the virus. In the past 24 hours nine patients have been in intensive care with the virus and seven are on ventilators.

There are 28 confirmed Covid-19 outbreaks in Northern Irish care and residential homes and 11 suspected ones.

To date, 364,380 individuals have been tested for the virus.
