Covid-19 Ireland updates: Close to 4,000 new cases confirmed

A further 3,903 cases of Covid-19 were confirmed by the Department of Health today.

As of 8am today, 463 people are in hospital with 76 patients in ICU.

Earlier today, Tanaiste Leo Varadkar refused to rule out the possibility of future restrictions, although he did say the current situation is different to this time last year.

He said on Morning Ireland: "It would be reckless to do so [rule out restrictions],"

"But I can say that it’s not our intention and we don’t expect to have to reimpose restrictions before Christmas."
