COVID-19 hospitalizations remain steady in Prince Edward Island

CHARLOTTETOWN — Health officials in Prince Edward Island say there are four patients in hospital due to COVID-19.

That number is unchanged since Sunday.

Officials say there are also four patients who were admitted to hospital for other reasons and then tested positive for the disease.

Chief public health officer Dr. Heather Morrison says there are 199 new recoveries today and the number of active cases is now 1,735.

There are currently four long-term care facilities and one community care home with COVID-19 outbreaks, and there are 23 early learning and childcare centres with cases or outbreaks.

Officials say there are also outbreaks at the Prince County Hospital, at the Community Hospital O'Leary, and at the Prince Correctional Centre.

They are reporting 161 new cases of COVID-19 today.
