Coventry fear Rangers mauling as boss Mark Robins makes frank friendly admission

Coventry City gaffer Mark Robins has admitted he fears his team aren't ready to face Rangers in Govan today.

The League One champions have only been back in training for ten days since the coronavirus shut down their season in March.

The West Midlands outfit are looking to make an impact in the Championship this season after 8 years in the thrid tier.

But the manager admits that while going to Ibrox will be a thrill for his players, there's a possibility the game will come "too soon" in his pre-season preparation.

He admitted: “We’ve been training for about 10 days now.

“The game itself probably comes too soon for us, but when you get the chance to play at Ibrox, it’s too good an opportunity to turn down.

“Everyone is looking forward to it. It’s not often you get the chance to do it and obviously up in Scotland you don’t see that much of the teams but you know the history and it lets us see where we’re at, at this stage.

“They’re a week away from their season starting so they’re going to be a lot further on than us, so we will be playing two teams in the game.”

They will follow their trip to Scotland with a match against Peterborough where they'll square up to Darren Ferguson's Posh at London Road.
