A clip of Courtney Love issuing a stern warning to young female actors about Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has been unearthed.
The grunge singer, who rose to fame as the former front woman of Hole, was probed about whether she had any advice for young women trying to make it in the hills of Hollywood.
“I’ll get libelled if I say it,” the musician said in footage from the red carpet of a Comedy Central event which has just been published by TMZ.
“If Harvey Weinstein invites you to a private party in the Four Seasons, don’t go.”
The punk songwriter, who was married to Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, said she not one of Weinstein’s alleged victims but claimed she had been blacklisted by agents at Creative Artists Agency for speaking out against him.
“Although I wasn’t one of his victims, I was eternally banned by CAA for speaking out against Harvey Weinstein,” she wrote on Twitter.
Weinstein, who produced Oscar-winning films Shakespeare in Love, The English Patient, and The Artist, has seen his career unravel since allegations of sexual harassment first emerged last week.
Since then, the disgraced movie mogul has faced an avalanche of allegations, including three of rape.
Dozens of women, including actresses Angelina Jolie, Kate Beckinsale and Gwyneth Paltrow, have gone public with accusations against him in the wake of recent reports by The New York Times and The New Yorker detailing allegations of rape, sexual assault, and harassment. Police forces in the UK and US have announced they are investigating allegations made against him.
Weinstein has been fired from his namesake company, expelled from the Oscars and had his wife leave him.
The producer has apologised for having “caused a lot of pain” but has denied all allegations of nonconsensual sex. He is believed to currently be in Arizona receiving “treatment” linked to his behaviour.
The Independent contacted a representative of Weinstein for comment.
