Couple heartbroken over death of their beloved dog Nala

A dog who went missing after being spooked by loud fireworks has sadly died.

Nala, a 14-month-old Lab/Spaniel cross, ran off on Friday evening from a street in Stevenston and was found passed away on the town's beach yesterday.

Her owners Graeme and Sarah Wilkinson of Ardrossan had been searching tirelessly for their beloved pet, along with lots of concerned well-wishers.

A post on the Find Nala Facebook  page said: “Nala has sadly passed away. Our hearts are breaking, but we wanted to update everyone that our search has unfortunately ended.

“Nala was found on Stevenston beach this morning, but had already passed away.

“Words can’t express how much Nala’s mum, dad, family and friends will miss her.

“She was the smartest, friendliest puppy who loved people and made our family complete. We will have her in our hearts forever.

“We want to thank everyone who has helped in any way with our search. Your kind words and generosity, giving up your time to help find Nala, kept us going through this upsetting time.

“We are devastated that we weren’t able to bring Nala home.”
