A County Durham MP shut down a misogynistic Twitter troll with a quick-witted reply.

Dehenna Davison, MP for Bishop Auckland had her followers laughing when she responded to the foul tweet from a man on Sunday.

The Conservative MP had tweeted about her excitement for the England v Croatia match with the caption "Come on, lads!!!" and a picture of the players heading out to play.

One troll took exception and replied with an explicit and offensive sexist tweet.

Dehenna wasted no time putting him in his place with the response: "No ta, I'm watching the football."

One follower said: "Wow, that's atrocious. Expertly dealt with though Dehenna."

Another said: "That’s probably the first conversation he has ever hand with a woman."

And another added: "Good put down... and such a pity that you need one."

Dehenna became the first Tory MP for Bishop Auckland in 2019.
