The Houston Texans could see a return to Tyrod Taylor at quarterback against the Los Angeles Rams Oct. 31 at NRG Stadium.
According to coach David Culley after Houston’s 31-5 loss to the Arizona Cardinals Sunday afternoon at State Farm Stadium, the Texans will evaluate how the former Pro Bowl quarterback handles a full week of practice before making the decision.
“We’ll have to wait until Wednesday to see,” said Culley. “He is going to start to practice. We’ll see how he is at that point. I feel like he is a lot further along now and he’s getting closer, but won’t be able to answer that until Wednesday.”
The Texans placed Taylor on injured reserve following the Week 2 loss to the Cleveland Browns. Taylor strained his hamstring and Houston turned to third-round rookie Davis Mills to carry the team.
Culley outlined what the Texans will be looking for when Taylor returns to practice.
Said Culley: “Just to make sure that when he’s running around back there that there’s nothing hampering him from being the type of player that he is, using his legs, and if there’s nothing there, then we feel good about going and playing him. But the only way to find that out is to go practicing him.”
The Texans are 1-1 when Taylor is in the lineup. Houston hasn’t won a game since Week 1 when they bested the Jacksonville Jaguars 37-21.
