Could Stranger Things be coming back to Fortnite?

Fortnite is no stranger to collaborations, having previously included items from the NFL, Marvel, and John Wick. Indeed right now, as part of Fortnitemares 2022, the game has Rick & Morty and Ash from The Evil Dead making cameos.

But excitement is building among fans hoping for the return of an old favourite: a possible collaboration with Netflix hit Stranger Things. Having previously introduced The Sideways (a riff on The Upside Down) in chapter eight, the game was more direct in chapter nine, bringing in Chief Hopper and the Demogorgon.

We don’t know what’s coming this time around, if anything, but the signs are there that something could be imminent. As the suitably Fortnite-obsessed YouTube channel EveryDay Fortnite spotted, upon spawning in Fortnite Creative, you’re presented with a building that has huge Stranger Things vibes, and bears a striking resemblance to the Creel house from season four’s finale.

The red glow and grandfather clock certainly screams Stranger Things, but there’s an even more blatant clue once you venture inside and come across this room:

Remember when Joyce Byers tried to communicate with an invisible entity via the medium of lettered Christmas lights all the way back in season one?

While it’s worth remembering that anybody can make Creative Hubs, Epic does pick which ones to feature. The credit stamp on this one points to Hive Creative, which has a Twitter bio that reads: “We are a team bringing your brand’s marketing endeavours to the hive of the gaming industry through Fortnite Creative.” That feels significant.

Assuming it has any significance, when can we expect a Stranger Things collaboration? You would think this would be perfect fodder for the tail end of the Fortnitemares Halloween event, but that’s drawing to a close now and will officially end on November 1.

Three days doesn’t feel quite long enough for this, so maybe it’s something we’ll see a little later. Netflix has designated November 6 as Stranger Things Day, or perhaps those lettered Christmas lights have a double meaning and we’ll be looking at something in late December? Fingers crossed more will be revealed soon.
