Costco announces major change to stores including Liverpool to benefit all members

Costco has confirmed plans to make major changes to a number of its stores including Liverpool from next week.

The wholesale retailer shared the changes in an email to its members which also thanked them for their support during the peak of the coronavirus crisis.

Back in March, when the Government put the country into lockdown, Costco like many retailers implemented a number of safety measures at its stores which includes a strict limit on customers inside its warehouses and limits to how many of each item could be purchased.

However, Costco has now confirmed from Monday, July 13 it will begin operating similar to how it did "pre-coronavirus" with its opening times.

Its email read: "Thank you for your support and understanding during what have been, and continue to be, challenging times for us all.

"It is important that we communicate changes to our operation, and therefore with effect from Monday 13th July, we are returning to our pre-pandemic trading hours.

This means its Liverpool store will now be open from 10am Monday- Friday for trade members and from 11am for individual members.

Monday-Friday the store will close at 8.30pm.

On Saturdays the store will be open 11am-7pm and on Sundays 11am-5pm.

Despite the changes, Costco is still recommending customers wear a fask mask when visiting its stores.

A statement on its website said: "Following government guidelines, we recommend wearing a face covering in spaces where social distancing isn’t possible and where you will come into contact with people you do not normally meet.

"This is most relevant for short periods indoors in crowded areas, including our warehouses. Face coverings do not replace social distancing.

"A face covering is not the same as the surgical masks or respirators used by healthcare and other workers as part of personal protective equipment.

"Face coverings should not be used by children under the age of 2 or those who may find it difficult to manage them correctly."

Costco's food courts are open with a limited menu for takeout only.
