Costa del Croydon: Adult beach club coming to London rooftop

If you’re struggling to escape the city this summer, one spot in south London will be offering beach vibes this August.

Costa del Croydon is returning for its third summer, with the “ultimate urban beach escape” taking place on the rooftop of the Centrale shopping centre’s multi-storey car park.

Located a three minute walk from West Croydon Station and free for anyone to access, Costa del Croydon has attracted over 60,000 visitors over the past two years.

It will run seven days a week from August 7 through to August 31, with two bookable sessions available each day: 11.30am - 3pm and 3.30pm - 7pm.

It is family friendly, with plenty to entertain adults and children alike, including a giant sand pit, splash park, life-size chess, mini go-karts and trampolines, and chill-out areas.

There will also be plenty of street food vans and sweet treat stops on hand.

New this year will be the “after-hours” adult only session - taking place between 5pm and 8pm each Thursday.

Called The Beach Club, these sessions will involve DJs, live music and plenty of cocktails.

The Beach Club will have a different theme every evening too, with garage nights, drag events and pre-carnival dancehall celebrations already planned, as well as sip & paint sessions and music bingo.

Dominique Stagg, Centrale & Whitgift’s Marketing, PR & Events Manager says: “We created Costa Del Croydon to give Croydon residents a free summer experience right in the heart of the town centre.

“Over the last two years it’s become a real summer focal point for the community, with families returning time and time again.

“This year we’re excited to introduce The Beach Club nights, creating a new social experience for adults alongside the daytime family offer.”

While entry is completely free and there will be space for daily walk-ins, organisers are advising to book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Bookings will be available via the building’s website from July 31.
