Costa Coffee urgently recalls Millionaire Mallow Bites amid allergy fears

Costa Coffee has announced it is recalling one of its sweet treats amid allergen concerns.

The coffee giant is recalling its Millionaire Mallow Bites and the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has posted the warning.

According to SurreyLive,  some of this product has been mistakenly labelled as Cornflake Cluster, therefore does not mention that they contain egg and wheat which means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg, wheat or gluten.

The items impacted are batch code 19289 with a best before of January 7 and 8, 2020.

The allergens included are egg and gluten (wheat).

This product contains egg and wheat making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg, wheat or gluten.

Action taken by the company

Costa Coffee is recalling the above product from customers and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers.

These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.

If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to egg, wheat or gluten, do not eat it.

Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
