'Cost the team dearly' - Pundit makes Leeds United selection claim after Nottingham Forest mistake

Nottingham Forest's promotion rivals, Leeds United, have been told to drop goalkeeper Kiko Casilla for tonight's clash with Brentford.

Kevin Phillips reckons that, after Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Forest, Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa should remove Casilla from the starting lineup for another promotion battle this evening.

Casilla, who has been out-of-form in recent weeks, let Sammy Ameobi's first-half strike sneak in at his near post at the City Ground in the weekend just gone, with Tyler Walker sealing the win in injury time.

Forest could go above Leeds into second place, behind West Bromwich Albion, should they beat Charlton Athletic tonight (7.45pm).

The Reds could leapfrog Leeds even if they manage a draw at Griffin Park and could end tonight in second with third-placed Fulham playing tomorrow.

And former Southampton striker Phillips has said he expects Bielsa to stick with Casilla given his loyalty to his players, but admits he would want a change in goal if he was a regular at Elland Road.

“It’s an area that is of concern for Leeds, definitely,” he told Football Insider.

“I watched the game at the weekend and he should never be getting beaten at the near post like he did, it went completely under him.

“Over the last month to five weeks he’s cost the team dearly with his mistakes.

“If I was a Leeds supporter I’d certainly want something to change, but again, Bielsa has shown he’s very loyal, quite stubborn as well, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he stuck with the goalkeeper.

“But like I say, if I was a supporter I’d want something to change. The situation needs to be addressed.

“He perhaps needs to come out of the team for one or two games and look from the outside in, and give him a break.”
