Cost of living event to support Lanarkshire residents to be held

Two Lanarkshire politicians are teaming up to host a cost-of-living event this month.

Lanark and Hamilton East MP Angela Crawley and Clydesdale MSP Màiri McAllan are inviting locals along to St Nicholas Church in Lanark next Friday, September 30, where different organisations will be there to help.

The aim is to provide practical support and advice to residents who are struggling with or worried about the current cost-of-living crisis.

Some of the groups who will be on hand are Citizens Advice, Home Energy Scotland, LAMH, CCI Scotland and Social Security Scotland. They will be there to answer any questions constituents may have.

The local representatives are encouraging everyone to pop in and take advantage of the opportunity in Clydesdale.

Commenting, Lanark and Hamilton East MP Angela Crawley told Lanarkshire Live : “As the cost-of-living crisis continues to spiral out of control, we wanted to offer whatever support we could to anyone who is worried or struggling to afford essentials.

“We’ve brought together several organisations who work in Clydesdale under one roof to try and help as many people as we can.

“Anyone who might need support is welcome to come along and I will continue to lobby at Westminster for fairer support to help my constituents through the cost-of-living crisis.”

The local groups taking part on the day can offer support on energy bills and how to manage household income during the current climate.

Clydesdale MSP Màiri McAllan added: “We would urge anyone needing support or advice to take advantage of this opportunity to meet a number of organisations under one roof.

“The coming months will be challenging for many, and as Clydesdale MSP I remain on hand to assist local constituents with any issues, they wish to bring to me.

“The organisations we are bringing to Lanark can offer their expertise and guidance on energy bills, managing household income, social security payments you may be entitled to, and tips on saving money.”

The event will take place in St Nicholas Church in Lanark between 11.30am and 2.30pm.
