Corrie spoilers: Fan favourite character attacked as protest takes dangerous turn

Coronation Street erupts in violence next week as a protest unfolds on the cobbles, putting a number of residents under threat next week.

Weatherfield police officer Craig Tinker ( Colson Smith ) is among those present at the demonstration when the situation spirals – and ends up seriously injured as a result.

ITV spoilers have revealed that a major protest takes place outside the factory.

Roy, Nina and Toyah warn Carla about the protest and urge her to take a closer look at Nadeem’s business practices.

With the protest underway, Nadeem arrives at the factory, where an apologetic Carla confirms that the deal is off.

The police arrive at the scene of the demonstration, but as Craig urges the protestors to disperse, Griff rallies the crowd.

As Carla and Nadeem emerge, Spider watches in horror as Griff pulls out a bottle and hurls it, hitting Craig on the head.

Griff is arrested whilst a terrified Toyah finds herself caught up in the melée of the protest.

Will Craig be alright? What will happen to Spider and Toyah after the scenes?

Elsewhere on the cobbles next week, Coronation Street is rocked with a shock health emergency after Weatherfield County footballer James Bailey suffers a shock heart attack

The footballer has boasted a thriving sports career on the soap, championed by his family and friends on the cobbles.

However, ITV spoilers have revealed that his world comes crashing down when he suffers a heart attack next week in Coronation Street.

James (Nathan Graham) is called forward by Jenny Connor who, knowing the Flying Horse are looking for revenge, asks him to train the pub's charity football team.

The professional football player happily accepts and puts the Rovers team through their paces.

As the Rovers' charity football match kicks off, pro player James is forced to step in when Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) storms out, wrongly thinking that his ongoing issue has been disclosed.

The match later kicks off, while Tim calms down at Aggie Bailey's (Lorna Laidlaw) house for a quick brew.

Meanwhile, the nurse’s son is out on the pitch when the Flying Horse take the lead with only minutes remaining. James manages to put the Rovers in front, but then he suddenly collapses.

Ed rushes across the pitch, frantically calling an ambulance, as James' older brother Michael (Ryan Russell) performs CPR.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
