Corrie viewers are aware teenager Simon Barlow has been drawn into drug dealing by his friend Jacob Hay while trying to support his grieving mum Leanne Battersby.
However next week the dark events take another turn when 10-year-old Sam Blakeman is drawn into his new life on the soap.
When Sam's dad Nick calls round with breakfast for Leanne and Simon, the boy begs Simon to take him on a bike ride. But as they’re about to set off, Jacob pulls up in his car and tells Simon he’s got an urgent job for him.
Promising Sam he’ll be just half an hour, Simon heads off, accidentally leaving his delivery bag behind.
Jacob tells Simon they're going to teach a young lad a lesson and bundle him into a car boot, and unfortunately Sam witnesses the assault.
The terrified youngster then pedals away with Simon’s bag containing two bags of cocaine.
Simon became involved in drugs after Leanne struggled to cope after losing her son Oliver to mitochondrial disease at the end of last year.
And now she's turning to a TV psychic for guidance.
When the teen, played by Alex Bain, is spotted smoking spliffs in Victoria Gardens a worried Toyah Battersby suggests to her sister Leanne that she needs to start focusing more on Simon. But Leanne is dismissive.
Also in Weatherfield next week Elaine Jones suggests they remove all traces of the late Geoff Metcalfe from the restaurant.
