Corrie's Simon Gregson accused of accidentally revealing I'm A Celeb stint

Coronation Street 's Simon Gregson was accused of revealing an upcoming I'm A Celebrity stint in a Freudian slip.

The actor, who plays Steve McDonald in the ITV soap, was on Loose Women today to talk about his belief in the supernatural.

Simon, 47, was chatting about his ghostly encounters when he accidentally said something about a "haunted castle".

Jane Moore, dressed as Harley Quinn for the Halloween special, jumped in to ask him if he'd just given away that he was going on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

"You mentioned a castle there," she said.

"Was that a little Freudian slip to do with a certain Welsh castle that you might be going into?"

But Simon, wearing a black wig and black lipstick and with stitches painted on his face, quickly denied that he was set for the reality show, which will be filmed at Gwrych Castle in Wales for the second year in a row.

Last year, Simon's on-screen mum Beverley Callard was one of the first cast of celebrities to take on the show in its new location after the pandemic made hosting it in Australia impossible.

Simon appeared on Loose Women at the time to jokingly accuse Beverley, who played Liz McDonald, of pretending to be vegan so she wouldn't have to eat animal testicles and live bugs.

He was quizzed by the Loose Women (ITV)

When asked if she'd told him off for what he said, Simon said: "I haven't seen her yet, she's off living her best life."

He joked that he'd "not had a chance to get beaten up by her yet".

Simon also spoke about spooky encounters at his home, which he believes is haunted.

He said that he, his wife Emma and their son Alfie, as well as friends, had all seen a "white lady" in the house.

He said his son had seen the white woman reading a book and that he himself had seen her walking from one room to another.

He added that a friend had seen her walking down the stairs while visiting.

But he insisted he wasn't scared because she "doesn't do anything".

Simon admitted that he "loves supernatural stuff" because he wants to believe that there is something else after death.

"It intrigues me but also there has been some scary moments," he said.

"George my chinchilla was in the spare room and screamed this high pitched scream, and they only do that if they're terrified so what did he see?"

He said he's also inexplicably heard doors banging and the microwave pinging, but that he's looked online and can't find anything about the history of his house.

* Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV
