Corrie's Millie Gibson 'was a wreck' filming 'emotional' exit scenes amid death horror

Coronation Street star Millie Gibson revealed she was "a wreck" as she filmed her final scenes as Kelly Neelan.

Teenager Kelly will bow out in dramatic scenes very soon, with a huge stunt week leaving lives on the line.

Kelly finally learns the truth about her dad Rick's murder at the hands of Gary Windass, and she sets out to destroy him - only for her plot to backfire.

As actress Millie bows out of the show, it's not known if Kelly will survive her ordeal as she faces death alongside Gary in horrifying scenes.

While details are being kept under wraps, Millie told The Mirror and other press that her last moments on the cobbles are "emotional", with her bursting into tears during filming.

Keeping spoilers under wraps, Millie said it was "sad" and "hard" to film, but she revealed she was grateful for her exit storyline.

Millie said: "I've been a wreck. If you ask anyone, there were a good two weeks where I was just crying constantly just because I think I was just so overwhelmed, and so grateful of the scenes and the storyline that had been given to me but there's a specific scene that sticks out to me.

"Basically throughout Kelly and Gary's relationship we've never hugged, and we've always spoken like, 'why have you never hugged me?'. But there was a scene where Gary hugs Kelly, it's a really simple scene.

"And as soon as we did it, and we shot it, I just burst out crying, I'm getting choked up now. It was just like, God, it's the beginning of the end. I think when we started filming our last scenes of being nice to each other, that's when we were like this is getting real now but yeah, it's been an emotional journey.

"It's because it's so beautiful, our relationship on and off screen. It's just been really emotional thinking about each other, 'Oh, we're never gonna act together again'."

She went on: "I can't say too much but there was a day with Mikey [North] at the end of the day. It was me and Mikey's last scene and I could not stop crying. I've never cried on a film set more, even on the line run it's like a seven-page scene with just me and Mikey, and I was choking up on the line run. It was so hard.

"It was such a hard scene but I'm so excited to see it because it's just a really good scene. It kind of wraps it all up. It's really sad and it was very hard."

On her exit scenes, she added: "Yes. Oh my gosh, when I first heard about it, I was like, gosh, they're really pulling out all the stops for this aren't they. So I was absolutely buzzing.

"I couldn't thank them enough. Honestly, I'm eternally grateful for this being the end of saying goodbye to Kelly Neelan."

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
