Corrie's Millie Gibson enjoys sizzling weather as she laps up sun with her co-stars

Coronation Street star Millie Gibson soaked up the sunshine with her co-stars in Manchester.

The soap actress, who has been playing Kelly Neelan in the ITV show since 2019, rocked a blue playsuit that had the midriff cut out.

She also wore a long gold necklace with the letter 'M' on it. Millie tied her hair up into a loose ponytail and donned sunglasses to protect her eyes from the sunshine.

Walking next to her was Charlie De Melo, who plays Imran Habeeb on the cobbles, and the two looked deep in conversation.

Charlie had his blazer folded over his arm as he lapped up the sunshine.

The actor wore a light yellow t-shirt and light blue jeans. He also rocked casual black shoes.

His other castmate Sally Anne Matthews, who plays Jenny Bradley, was out and was seen chatting to the other cast members.

Millie recently talked to Mirror and explained how her Northern accent was what won her the role of Kelly.

The teenager trained at the Oldham Theatre Workshop from 11 and has a natural northern accent.

But screen teen Kelly attended private school and Millie feared she might have to fettle some pronunciations.

She explains: "There were lots of girls in the waiting room that looked nothing like me.

"They were all quite well-spoken and I’ve got a bit of a Manc twang in my voice so I was a bit like, ‘Oh no, am I going to have to play her in a different way?’

"But in the end I didn’t because my take on Kelly was while she was a private schoolgirl, I knew she did not quite fit in as the rest of them.

"So I think not having that well-spoken, posh put-together voice worked quite well."

Despite being a teenager, Millie has been at the centre of one of Coronation Street ’s most tragic storylines – the murder of Seb Franklin, based on the real-life hate crime killing of Sophie Lancaster, 20, in a park in 2007.

The young star got her break in 2018 ITV drama Butterfly, playing Lily Duffy alongside Anna Friel – who has become a mentor to Millie.

The teen explains: "Butterfly was such a beautiful show to work on. Anna’s lovely and she taught me a lot.

"Everything she wanted to achieve in the scene she achieved, so she was very determined in that sense and it was really amazing watching her work."
