Corrie's killer Stephen tells twisted lie as he targets Carla Connor after shock death

Coronation Street villain Stephen Reid sets his sights on his next target next week, after brutally killing again on the ITV soap.

After murdering Leo Thompkins last year, killer Stephen, the son of Audrey Roberts, strikes again this week and brutally murders Leo's dad Teddy.

Now, new spoilers reveal that Stephen has a third target on the cards after he's left humiliated in upcoming scenes.

Underworld boss Carla Connor finds herself on Stephen's hit list, as he begins to target her after she fires him from the factory.

She's given Stephen a job in packing, with him helping to package up the factory produce - while Stephen has claimed to old work associates that he is instead a senior consultant at the business.

His lies are exposed next week though when Carla humiliates him in front of one of them, ordering him to help Kirk with the packages.

Later in the week, Carla learns about Stephen's lies and fires him from the factory leaving him devastated.

It's then that Stephen tells a twisted lie, while viewers know all about his money schemes with him scamming funds from people - never mind the fact he has killed two people.

Stephen claims to Carla that his ex-wife Gabrielle ripped him off, and when he bumped into his old associate he was simply trying to save face.

Carla eventually allows him to keep his job - but it seems Stephen is already planning on getting rid of her.

Stephen actor Todd Boyce recently spilled to The Mirror and other press: "Carla is getting on his wick, she's humiliated him on two occasions in front of his former colleagues from when he was a bigwig in Milan.

"They have kind of wandered into her business. I keep pretending I'm doing consultancy work and she's got me out in packing. She spoils my cover, she crushes me in front of them.

"Also she has a business that I would like and she's annoying me. Carla is skating on thin ice."

It comes as soap boss Iain MacLeod teased the moment Stephen would turn his attentions to Carla, and could destroy her.

He told The Mirror: "He sees his first step back on the ladder to the top of the international rank trade as getting the gig in Underworld, and then trying to topple the current queen of the pile Carla.

"There's this really good psychological warfare which begins with those two and of course it's all freighted with the knowledge on our part that we know he's killed someone.

"So when Carla is in there belittling him and making him make tea, undercutting him in front of clients, she's just unwittingly poking this hornet's nest and obviously at some point all the hornets do come out, but not probably in the way you will expect.

"If anyone predicts what Stephen does to Carla I will eat my hat. Honestly his plan is so out there and dark I'd be incredibly surprised if anyone spots it.

"[Carla and Peter's] story will centre on her war with Stephen. Peter's role in that is being deeply concerned about his wife's history with mental health problems.

"He will be put offside by trying to be overprotective in situations and trying to fight her battles for her, trying to intervene in unhelpful ways. They are bubbling along nicely but it's in readiness for this story later on.

"Carla suddenly finds herself thrusted into Stephen’s crosshairs and in a certain amount of danger as a result of that, so that will be the thing that brings them back together again."

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
