Corrie fans share relief as 'fitting' end to storyline almost went wrong

Some worried Coronation Street fans shared their relief as a 'fitting' end to Friday night's episode could have gone wrong.

Soap watchers were treated to an hour-long trip to Weatherfield and it was well worth the watch as they finally saw Seb Franklin get justice.

The latest evidence was stacked against killer Corey Brent and he - and his dad Stefan - knew it.

So the pair were attempting to flee the country before the police caught up with them.

But what they didn't bank on was Abi Franklin teaming up with Gary Windass to get them caught once and for all.

As the father and son hid out, Stefan was seen telling Corey that he had a plan and called Eli's dad, who he had already paid off to lie during the trial.

But Abi already had in inkling he was involved and before he could even set off to help, Gary had tracked him down.

When Christian eventually arrived in the van to collect Corey and Stefan, they had no idea that Gary was there too.

As they jumped into the back, Gary took the keys and got in the driver's seat while making a call.

When he finally stopped and opened the doors, they were outside Weatherfield police station with Nina, Abi and her new husband Kevin watching on as Corey was arrested.

Abi and Nina were sent, quite literally, jumping for joy when they were told that the CPS had agreed to charge Corey with murder.

Later, they had a mini celebration with cake in Roy's cafe when Kevin revealed he had got Abi a present.

As it was Bonfire Night, Kev bought the biggest rocket he could find in the shop so Abi could let it off in Seb's memory.

So she and Nina headed to Seb's memorial garden to let it off, but not before sharing a message.

"To my son Sebastian, I still love ya you big lump," Abi said. "Wherever you are.

"And I said we'd get justice for ya didn't I. I know it took a while but I hope now you can rest in peace... I hope we can all get a bit of peace."

Nina added, while looking to the sky: "I'll never forget ya, never ever," before telling Abi: "He made me so happy."

But when Abi went to light it, it failed to set off.

As the pair wondered what to do, it suddenly shot off into the night sky and the pair beamed with tears in their eyes.

And Corrie fans were emotional over the ending.

"What a most appropriate ending to Corrie tonight absolutely loved it," one said.

Another commented: "Fabulous tribute and justice for Seb."

"It was like Seb didn't want the rocket to go up, but as soon as Abi said she messed up again... it went off," a third noted.

A fourth added: "Aww I absolutely loved that episode , happy ending with the typical corrie humour, loved it, laughed and cried... well done."

"Not me crying over seb's rocket precious #corrie" another said.

A fellow soap watcher shared: "What a heartwarming ending, lovely stuff."

But some were, rightly, concerned.

One fan said: "I totally thought that firework was away to blow up in her face - I actually screamed! Such a touching scene. Well done."

"Loved this scene although I was worried incase anything went wrong with the rocket," another added.

A third shared: "Abbie was way to close to that rocket #Corrie."

"Why did I think something bad was going to happen with the rocket? #corrie #CoronationStreet," a fourth added.
