Corrie fans 'rumble who attacked Adam Barlow' in mistaken identity theory

Coronation Street could be about to air a major twist in the Adam Barlow attack storyline, if one fan theory is correct.

Some Corrie viewers think they have worked out who attacked Adam in The Bistro, with him left for dead.

The ITV soap confirmed four main suspects, all with a motive for wanting to attack him.

On the list is his uncle Peter Barlow and his partner Carla Connor - after Carla's fling with Adam was exposed.

Adam's estranged wife Sarah Platt is also a suspect, as is her ex and Adam's enemy Gary Windass.

But viewers are already expecting a major twist, believing an unnamed suspect will have been behind it.

A new theory backed by several viewers could have seen Adam attacked in a case of mistaken identity.

Adam was drinking alone in Ray's restaurant - with both men upsetting residents that night.

While Adam threatened to tear the Barlows apart with his betrayal, vile Ray tried to rape Faye Windass - only for her brother Gary to walk in.

Now, there's a theory that Adam, who has a similar coat to Ray, may have been attacked when someone was actually after Ray.

Adam was leaning over the bar so the person might not have seen his face before hitting him over the head.

Taking to Twitter, some fans questioned if Faye or Gary may in fact be the attacker for this reason with one writing: "Has to be Faye thinking it was Ray sitting there."

Another agreed: "#Corrie reckon it was Gary, mistaken ID, thought it was Ray and went back because of the scam to get him to sell up AND what happened to Faye, i think when he saw Adam in the long grey coat (Ray wears) at the bar, Adam has his head down on the bar so you couldn't see properly."

A third added: "Possibly it was Faye who attacked Adam Barlow, thinking it was Ray who was sat in the Bistro."

Coronation Street airs weeknights at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
