Corrie fans in disbelief as they call out blunders in dramatic Easter Monday episode

Drama is never far away from the Coronation Street cobbles. And it was far from a happy Easter in Weatherfield as trouble seemed to appear around every corner.

In Easter Monday's hour-long episode of the soap former drug dealer Jacob Hay, who is trying to win over new love Amy Barlow and her family, took advantage of corner shop assistant Evelyn Plummer over-ordering alcopops and decided to sell them in Victoria Gardens.

A vengeful Simon Barlow reported Jacob to the police and as they arrived at Victoria Gardens Jacob did a runner, leaving the last boxes of alcopops on the bench. But there was a serious mix-up as police officers found diabetic Summer Spellman slumped on the bench.

Assuming her to be drunk, they picked her up and took her down to the station. Thankfully her friends Amy and Aadi Alahan saved the day when called at the police station and told their policeman neighbour Craig Tinker about Summer’s arrest and how she was suffering from her diabetes and not intoxicated.

Craig hurried to the cells where he found the teen, who has been secretly battling the eating disorder bulimia, slumped in a diabetic coma. Fearing the worst, Craig shouted for someone to call an ambulance.

Summer was taken away by the police (ITV)

Thankfully Summer was later seen recovering in hospital before being allowed home where she finally opened up to her adoptive dad Billy Mayhew about her bulimia. But fans were horrified by the scenes and called out the soap's Weatherfield Police for their actions.

@GregDav94758992 huffed: "Weatherfield's own Keystone Cops in action, again." @SarahFallows82 commented: "@Weatherfield999 doing a cracking job as always", @PJDavies1962 asked: "Surely they would have breathalysed her first?#corrie" And @amz07 questioned: "Wtf as if they’d put her in a cell."

@unsworth1live asked: "#Corrie wouldn’t police get their doctor to check to see Summer is ok?", @Samanth22356123 tweeted: "Surely at least one copper would be trained to spot the signs that it was diabetes not being drunk??!!" and others asked why Summer was even locked away in the first place.

Abi had a meeting in the cafe (ITV)

@fussyMcWhiskers asked: "#corrie Why on earth did they put Summer in a cell? She wasn't chasing Roy around the Street shouting obsenities. They should have taken her to A&E." And @gillyn4 wondered: "Why was Summer in a cell in the first place, she hadn't done anything?"

Eyebrows were also raised when Abi Webster decided to have a meeting with her solicitor about fighting one-night stand Imran Habeeb for custody of their baby boy Alfie in the cafe. Viewers couldn't believe she had decided to meet Elliot in Roy's Rolls rather in private, and neither could Elliot.

Abi assured him that they could 'say anything' in front of her friend Roy. But she dropped a clanger when Imran's fiance Toyah Battersby walked in to hear them discussing ways to scupper Imran’s chances of custody.

@ASuperGav tweeted: "Ah yes. Roy Rolls. The communal surgery for discussing familial law instead of the solicitor’s office." And @CxxPIPxx asked: "Who has a highly sensitive and important meeting with their solicitor in the local cafe?"

@Willswhinge exclaimed: "That's why solicitors have offices! Carry on cruising is on ITV3 which is far less ludicrous!" And @BnmPlanet asked: "Come on @Corrie no solicitor will discuss case in the cafe where others are listening in, would they?"
