Coronation Street fans were distracted on Monday night as a new, yet very familiar face appeared in Weatherfield.
Corey Brent's dad Stefan Brent made his first appearance on the cobbles and marks a return to soapland for the actor that plays him, Paul Opacic.
Stefan made his debut in the ITV soap as he met with Dev Alahan as daughter Asha moved out to be with her boyfriend Corey.
Dev was upset and angry, accusing Stefan of not caring what was happening in his home.
But it only got worse as Stefan kept getting distracted by phone calls leading to Dev slamming his hand on the table before leaving Speed Daal.
Later, viewers saw Corey and Asha move in to Nick and Leanne's old flat after Corey's parents took over the lease, leaving Dev heartbroken.
All the while, however, fans were taking to social media to ask about Stefan actor Paul.
"I'm sure that guy was in Emmerdale years ago #Corrie," tweeted one.
Another said: "#corrie who’s this chap playing Coreys dad he looks familiar, anybody know."
Others, however, recognised him straight away.
"The actor playing Corey's dad was in Emmerdale #Corrie," a viewer tweeted.
Another noted: "Oh it’s Steve Marchant from @emmerdale from 24 years ago in @itvcorrie talking to dev #Corrie," a third added.
"Great to see Paul Opacic in @itvcorrie, though ever since Claire King returned to @emmerdale I hoped he’d be back on there. Unfinished business surely! #corrie #emmerdale," a third commented.
A fourth added: "Omg Carl from Hollyoaks playing Corey's dad! #corrie."
Paul is no stranger to appearing in a soap having played Steve Marchant in Emmerdale from 1996 until 1999.
Steve was Kim Tate's second husband but was sent to prison after being framed by his wife for crimes she committed.
Paul also starred in Hollyoaks as he played Carl Costello between 2010 and 2013 but was last seen in 2018 after making a limited episode guest appearance.
