Coronavirus Scotland: 208 new cases nationwide with 92 in Glasgow area

208 new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Scotland in the past 24 hours, with 92 in the the Greater Glasgow and Clyde region.

The Scottish Government stats announced this afternoon also show 30 new recorded cases in Lanarkshire.

The national figure of 208 is 67 higher than recorded yesterday and is the largest total since May 16, when 212 covid-19 cases were registered.

However, there were no new deaths linked to the virus, the government confirmed.

They advised:

  • 208 new confirmed cases of COVID-19; this is 2.3% of newly tested individuals
  • No new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive (noting that Register Offices are now generally closed at weekends)
  • 4 people were in intensive care last night with confirmed COVID-19
  • 245* people were in hospital with confirmed COVID-19
  • 18,418 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results

*This figure includes people who are no longer being treated for COVID-19. This is being reviewed and will be replaced next week with a measure that focuses on hospital in-patients with a more recent positive COVID-19 test. Data for Saturday 5 September has been used for NHS Highland.
