Coronavirus Northern Ireland: Five new positive cases brings total to 34

Five new positive cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Northern Ireland - bringing the total to 34.

In a statement released by the Department of Health, they said protocols on case reporting are being updated in light of the new testing procedures.

The statement said: "As of 2pm on Saturday 14 March, testing has resulted in 5   new positive cases bringing the total number of cases in Northern Ireland to 34.

"People with mild symptoms - new persistent cough and/or fever - should stay at home and self-isolate for seven days. They will not require testing.

"Testing is now being principally provided for patients requiring hospital treatment and those with particular medical conditions.

"Testing of healthcare workers who have been in contact with symptomatic and/or confirmed cases will also be required.

"Protocols on case reporting are being updated in light of the new testing procedures. Further information will be provided early next week."
