Coronavirus: McDonald’s giving away free drinks to NHS and emergency service staff

Fast food chain McDonald's is giving away free drinks to frontline staff during the Coronavirus.

All NHS, council and emergency service staff will be eligible for the freebie, which the chain is offering as a 'thank you' for the 'tireless work' health and care workers are doing to fight the spread of the pandemic.

All workers will need to do is show their work pass at their local restaurant or drive thru branches to receive the free hot or cold drink item from the menu.

As reported in The Sun a spokesperson from McDonald's said: "We want to use our UK and Ireland footprint to thank, reward and support the health and care workers doing an incredible job in difficult and unprecedented times.

"This offer is a token of our appreciation for the tireless work that these professionals are carrying out in the communities in which we operate."

"From today we are offering free drinks for those workers in our restaurants and Drive Thrus, on sight of their work pass."

The move, which launched yesterday will continue throughout the pandemic.

If you're self-isolating at home and want to treat yourself to a takeaway, Topcashback are offering £15 bonus on Just Eat orders.

The deal is open to all new cashback members who order via the site's special tracked link. Hungry customers just order as normal on the Just Eat website and TopCashback will pay out the bonus to cover some or all your order.

This week the chain also announced it would close kids areas in restaurants across the UK in a bid to help stop the spread of the deadly virus.

The closures come as COVID-19 cases jumped to 1,950 and deaths rise to 71.
