Coronavirus Ireland: Mayo GAA stadium MacHale Park to be used as Covid-19 testing centre

Mayo GAA have confirmed that MacHale Park will be used as a coronavirus testing centre from next week.

It will join Castlebar Leisure Complex as the second testing centre within the county, there are currently nine confirmed cases of the virus within the county.

The county board released a statement after making their facilities available, Pairc Ui Chaoimh in Cork and Croke Park in Dublin are also currently being used as test centres.

A statement said: “Mayo GAA confirm that Elverys MacHale Park will be used by the HSE as a COVID-19 drive-through testing centre, beginning early next week.

“Access to the ground will be restricted to those working there and those attending appointments. Testing is by appointment only,” said a statement on the Mayo GAA website.

“We are delighted to be able to help the HSE at this time and we urge everyone to continue to respect the social distancing guidelines that are currently in place.”
