Coronavirus Ireland: Death toll soars over 100 in Ireland as two more patients die in the North

The death toll on the island of Ireland has surpassed the 100 mark after two more patients passed away in Northern Ireland today.

The number of people who have died in the North after contracting coronavirus has risen by two to 30, health officials said.

Testing has resulted in 103 new positive cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the region to 689.

A total have 71 people have died in the Republic of Ireland as a result of the deadly virus up until lunchtime on Tuesday.

This brings the total number of deaths in all of Ireland to 101 - while there has been 3,924 confirmed cases all together.

Over 30,200 people in the Republic of Ireland were tested for the coronavirus as of midnight on Monday.

The positivity rate has increased from 6% to 15%, due to the changes in what was required of people asking for a test.
