Coronavirus in Scotland: Cases rise by 88 with 36 in Greater Glasgow area

The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Scotland has risen by 88 overnight, meaning positive cases have now reached 20,195.

The largest share of these are in Greater Glasgow, where cases have risen by 36, the latest Scottish Government figures report.

No new deaths have been registered in the past 24 hours.

258 people were in hospital with confirmed Covid-19 last night, with five in intensive care.

Meanwhile, the latest rules for weddings taking place in Scotland have stated that both bride and groom should wear a face covering during the ceremony.

The Scottish Government's 'Health Protection Coronavirus Restrictions' offer guidelines on the rules for various sectors during the coronavirus pandemic.

Now, new guidance has stated that face coverings must be worn by all guests, including the couple being married unless the wedding is completely outdoors.

The only exemption is for the celebrant or person leading the ceremony, who must remain a distance of two metres away from everyone else.
