Coronavirus daily deaths down to 189 as vaccines set to be rolled out tomorrow
pThe UKapos;s coronavirus death toll in all settings has increased by 189 in the past 24 hours, bringing the UK total to 61,434. /p
pThis is down on last Mondayapos;s death toll of 205 and the 206 reported on Monday, November 23./p
pThe Department of Health has also announced that new cases have increased by 14,718 in all settings, including hospitals, care homes and the community./p
pIt brings the total number of cases in the UK to 1,737,960./p
pThis is up on last Monday, when 12,330 more cases were recorded, but down on the 15,450 of November 23./p

pYesterday, the daily death toll increased by by 231 in a slight week-on-week increase./p
pCases across the UK increased by 17,272 yesterday - rising from the 12,155 recorded in the same period last week./p
pMeanwhile on Saturday, the death toll rose by 397 - the lowest Saturday toll in weeks and 82 fewer than the previous Saturday. Another 15,539 new Covid-19 cases were reported./p

pFor comparison, Monday, November 16 saw 213 deaths - which was the highest Monday death toll since May 11, when 222 fatalities were reported./p

pEarlier today, the NHS reported deaths in hospital settings only have rose by 202 in the past 24 hours./p

pBy comparison, the number of hospital deaths announced on recent Mondays was 190 on November 23, 212 on November 16, 185 on November 9, 129 on November 2 and 103 on October 26./p
pScotland has recorded one death from coronavirus and 677 positive tests in the past 24 hours, Nicola Sturgeon said./p
pIt brings the death toll under this measure - of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days - to 3,917./p
pMs Sturgeon said 100,783 people have now tested positive in Scotland, up from 100,106 the previous day./p
pTodayapos;s figures come as care home workers, NHS staff and people aged 80 and over will begin receiving the coronavirus vaccine from Tuesday./p
