Coronavirus: Ant Middleton gives grovelling apology and deletes misleading clips about virus

Ant Middleton apologised and deleted misleading clips about the coronavirus pandemic.

The SAS: Who Dares Wins chief instructor, 39, urged his following to follow the UK government's advice as the COVID-19 outbreak continues to plague the world.

In a piece to camera, Ant admitted he was being "insensitive" about the killer bug and he said he had misjudged the "scale of the crisis" going on in the UK.

The TV personality wiped his Twitter of the clips he talked about coronavirus to avoid giving the wrong advice to his fans.

He said: "Now I've come out of this bubble I realised I've been a bit insensitive to the magnitude the scale of the crisis happening in the UK.

"It's forever changing situation and advice being given take down my previous post some of the advice I give now goes against government advice. I've taken them down and admit I made a mistake."

As coronavirus has been spiralling out of control in the UK, Ant was in New Zealand to shoot a secret project.

However, in the wake of the killer bug, his secret project has been cancelled and he has a flight home to the UK.

He said: "My secret project has been cancelled. I'm on a flight home this weekend."

Ant set the record straight when he laid out his apology to his 278.3K-strong following.

The adventurer elaborated he took ownership of his own mistakes as he prepared to make the journey home to face the coronavirus crisis with the rest of the UK.

He wrote: "I talk a lot of integrity, acknowledgment & taking ownership of mistakes. I’m doing that now. I’m in NZ on a secret project & the scale of the UK crisis is hitting me.

"I am taking down my recent Insta videos. Look forward, keep positive & celebrate those keeping us safe & well."

His apology comes after the SAS: Who Dares Wins star was accused of doing a U-turn to follow government advice.

The ex-special forces soldier initially ranted about advice issued from COVID-19 experts "won’t affect him" as he claimed he was too "strong" to be affected by the virus.

Ant has since gone back on his words.
