Coronavirus: 46 new Covid cases confirmed in Bristol but no new deaths

There have been 46 new Covid cases confirmed across Bristol and the surrounding areas but no new deaths.

The latest data, published by Public Health England today, means the total number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test recorded in the city and surrounding areas since the beginning of the pandemic remains at 1,345.

The city region saw the most new cases confirmed in the Bristol area, with 20 new positive tests reported.

There was a further 16 cases in North Somerset, with eight in South Gloucestershire and just two in Bath and North East Somerset.

The new cases in Bristol are part of a total of 3,402 recorded across the UK in the last 24 hours, bringing the nationwide total to 4,353,668.

Breakdown of positive test results

The number of positive test results in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new positive test results in brackets.

  • Bristol - 30,520 (+20)

  • North Somerset - 9,983 (+16)

  • South Gloucestershire - 15,065 (+8)

  • Bath and North East Somerset - 8,173 (+2)

UK figures

The number of people who died today, within 28 days of a positive test, across the UK totalled 52.

Over 126,000 have lost their lives across the UK since the pandemic began, but the daily number of fatalities has been on the decline since the second peak on January 19.

There were also 273 people admitted to hospital across the UK over the last 24 hours, with the total over the last seven days now sitting at 2,241 - a decline of nearly 700 on the previous week.

As things stand, the number of people have received their first vaccine dose has now passed 31 million, with the current total sitting at 31,301,267.

There have also now been almost 5,000,000 who have received their second jab.
