Coronation Street spoilers: Carla's paranoia spirals out of control and Gary hits rock bottom

The world comes crashing down around two residents of Coronation Street next week as the horrific events at Underworld continue to impact on lives.

Underworld boss Carla Connor has a huge shock when she receives a chilling message seemingly from beyond the grave, from Rana Habeeb who was killed in the collapse of the factory.

And next week on Corrie Gary Windass is in deep when he starts working as a loan shark, conning elderly ladies out of their cash.

Carla is horrified when she receives a message online telling her “you destroy everything you touch", and the sender is Rana.

Then Peter and Ken worry for her as she scribbles the words “watching” and “murder” on a crossword and throws her tea down the sink convinced she’s being poisoned.

As her paranoia swirls out of control she leaves the house barefoot and Peter finds her staring at the remains of her beloved factory.

Realising she’s seriously ill, he takes her to the medical centre but Carla thinks it’s a trap and escapes.

Meanwhile builder Gary, who was working on the factory before it collapsed, tells girlfriend Sarah Platt that bribe money he accepted from Peter Barlow to cover for Carla knowing that the roof needed replacing has all gone on his workers' wages.

He works on Mary Taylor's guttering and lies that further repairs are needed as a matter of urgency.

Then his boss Rick Neelan drives Gary to an assisted living complex and reveals that he expects Gary to con some gullible residents into taking out high-interest loans.

Watched by Rick, Gary reluctantly knocks on the door of a sweet old lady who, hearing he’s offering loans, ushers him inside. And Gary is sickened as Rick spots cafe worker Alex Warner and encourages him to take out a loan.

In The Rovers, Gary warns Alex to think twice and when Rick realises what he's up to her threatens that Sarah and Harry will suffer if he doesn’t comply.

His heart sinks when Alex presents Cathy with an expensive bracelet for her birthday which he realises must have been bought with Rick’s loan.
