Coronation Street fans predict future romance for Asha and Nina

Plucky Nina Lucas won hearts by defending Asha Alahan against bullies, and Corrie fans are wondering if a romance might blossom from this burgeoning new friendship in the future.

Nina recently stepped in after Asha was taunted in the street by a gang.

The group of boys mocked her over a video of herself stripping for her teenage crush Corey Brent which was leaked online.

As Asha was jeered in front of her dad Dev and best friend Amy Barlow, goth Nina marched over.

She removed one of her lace gloves and punched the ringleader in the face, leaving him with a bloodied nose.

In tonight's Coronation Street Nina, who works at her uncle Roy Cropper's cafe, had a heart-to-heart with Asha about her ordeal.

When Asha told her that Corey had made her feel good about herself, Nina had some wise words to share.

She told her: "Seriously. You're beautiful and you shouldn't have to rely on other people to tell you that.

"Look in a mirror."

Nina later sent Asha a sketch she had done of her new friend, which made her smile.

On the back of the sketch she wrote: "Incase you needed proof."

Fans are wondering if there could end up being more to this friendship.

"Maybe she develops feelings for Asha?" asked one fan.

"I was thinking that too," agreed another.

"Going to be a couple?" asked another fan.

"So excited to see more of her and Asha’s friendship," said another viewer.

Schoolgirl Asha, played by Tanisha Gorey, was at the centre of a revenge-porn plot after her naked video was shared in an online chat group by Weatherfield newcomer Kelly Neelan and then posted on a porn site.

Nina was introduced to Coronation Street viewers in November when Roy did some digging into his mother’s secret life and unearthed evidence of a son she had during an affair.

When he tracked down his brother Richard Lucas, played by Paul Bown, he was surprised to find he had a teenage daughter.

After Richard passed away Roy brought homeless Nina into his home.

Outspoken Nina is played by Mollie Gallagher and this is the Manchester born actress’ first TV role.
