Coronation Street fans issue request to bosses after 'beautiful' scenes

An afternoon tea scene with Coronation Street's oldest actors left viewers thrilled with the change of pace.

Audrey showed her nerves in tonight's episode after she was invited out for afternoon tea with her friends. It was the first time she left her home since her failed suicide attempt.

Not letting nerves get the better of her, she joined Ken, Rita, and Roy and ended up enjoying herself more than she realised. The group continuously made snappy one-liners about each other and as time went on, Audrey came more and more out of her shell.

The unusually light-hearted scenes went down a storm with fans as they commended the "golden oldies" on their group scene. The change of pace was also commended for shining a light on the older characters and letting them have a moment of fun and humanity with each other.

Showing their support for the scene, one viewer said: "This is one of the most beautiful, comical, poignant scenes. Audrey, Rita, Ken, Roy, & Claudia "just" sat around a table talking. #Corrie at its finest. I knew Audrey would divulge her recent suicide attempt, but had no idea it would manifest in such a way. Bravo."

Another comment added: "#Corrie is on top form at the moment. Some great comedy moments are weaved into the drama. Ken Barlow peeking from behind the fern - excellent."

A third viewer said: "Can we please have more episodes with the four golden oldies? They're brilliant!"

A final comment added: "This is why #Corrie is so good. One minute you're laughing at Norris and Rita swinging, next your heart is breaking for Audrey

The personal atmosphere brought to light Audrey's suicide attempt as she confided in her friends about what she had done. Ken, Rita and Roy all gave her their support which was also commended by viewers for tackling a sensitive topic in an authentic manner.
