Coronation Gardens: Teenager found injured in cafe after stabbing in east London

A teenager was found injured in a high street cafe after being stabbed in east London early on Tuesday morning.

Police were called to reports of a knife attack in Leyton around 6.45am, and found the young victim in an eatery on Leyton High Road.

He is believed to have been attacked on nearby Brisbane Road.

The teen was taken to hospital with injuries police say are not life-threatening.

Scotland Yard confirmed he was later arrested on suspicion of assault of an emergency worker.

Coronation Gardens - a green space on Leyton High Road - remained taped off on Tuesday morning following the stabbing.

Police said it is one of several crime scenes that remain in place.

Waltham Forest Council urged residents to avoid the area while police investigate.

It said in a post on Twitter: “Please avoid Brisbane Road and Coronation Gardens in Leyton #E10.

“An active crime scene is in operation and the Gardens have been closed. Updates will be provided when the area reopens.”
