Cops tackle disturbances in pubs across Renfrewshire during Easter weekend

A teenager is alleged to have bottled other revellers in a rammy in a Paisley pub as cops tackled a number of disturbances throughout the area over Easter weekend.

Officers across Renfrewshire dealt with a number of violent incidents in pubs as revellers were out making the most of the Easter weekend.

In one incident in Paisley, a 19-year-old is said to have become involved in an argument at the at The Northern Way pub.

He is then said to have approached the bar in the premises, picked up a glass bottle and struck another man on the head.

causing damage.

Officers attended at the Causeyside Street pub following reports of a male causing a disturbance.

The 19-year-old was apprehended nearby and is alleged to have been in possession of a large knife and shards of broken glass.

A spokesperson from Police Scotland said: “Officers attended at The Northern Way, in Paisley’s Causeyside Street around 10.45pm on Friday, April 15 following reports of a male assaulting another customer and damaging the premises.

“Following enquiries, a 19-year-old male has been arrested and charged in connection with assault and weapons charges.

“He will appear at Paisley Sheriff Court in due course.

“A report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.”

Davidsons in Hairst Street, Renfrew (Andrew Neil)

In another incident over the weekend, police were called to Davidson’s bar in Renfrew’s Hairst Street yesterday evening following reports of a male using sectarian language.

Officers arrived around 10.30pm where they discovered a man who is alleged to have been assaulting a number of fellow patrons.

He is then said to have become abusive and use sectarian and racist language towards members of the public and police officers.

A Police Scotland spokesman added: “Police attended Davidsons in Hairst Street on Sunday, April 17 following reports of a disturbance.

“Officers attended and arrested a man in connection with assault and offensive behaviour.

“A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal."

Officers are also appealing for information after a man was left with serious injuries following an attack at The Tartan Rose in Paisley's Broomlands Street.

The man was rushed to hospital with facial wounds following the attack on Saturday night around 10.55pm.
