Police have placed a large cordon by a popular Merseyside pub after reports that shots had been fired nearby in a "targeted" attack.
Emergency services are currently are on the scene at Arrowe Park Pub, on Church Lane, Birkenhead and police are appealing to the public for information.
Police were called to the pub at around 6.45pm on Tuesday after three men are believed to have run inside claiming they were shot at, reported the Liverpool Echo.
A separate cordon is also in place further down Church Lane by a row of shops.
Arrowe Park Pub has been closed with people leaving having also claimed that "three men had run inside saying they had been shot at", reported the Echo.
There are no reports of anyone being injured.
Officers are carrying out forensic, CCTV, and witness enquiries, as well as speaking to the local community.
Mersyside Police have said that they are treating the incident as a "targeted" attack.
Detective Inspector Darren Hankin said: “We are in the very early stages of an investigation and will remain in the area to provide reassurance to the community and gather information.
“This initially appears to have been a targeted attack, but we’re keeping an open mind as to the circumstances. The use of weapons on our streets will not be tolerated and we know this will be an alarming incident for local residents. An extensive investigation is being carried out.
“If you saw or heard anything suspicious on Arrowe Park Road or the surrounding area at around 6.45pm, or have captured home CCTV or dashcam footage, please do come forward in confidence as any information could be vital to the investigation.”
