Man dead in fatal attack in Erskine as cops cordon off scene

Cops swooped on a suburban Scots street this afternoon.

Police have confirmed a man died at the scene after being attacked.

Photos showed Park Drive in Erskine shutdown by officers.

One local said: "I heard a lot of sirens at 12 o'clock the  I went out to buy cigarettes at 2pm and saw all the police.

"They'd got the whole street cordoned off."

Teams in forensic suits also spotted (UGC)

Multiple police units are still at the scene this afternoon.

Forensic teams were also spotted in the cul-de-sac.

The neighbour added: "It's normally a quiet street and it's a wee bit more crazy happening on New Year's Day."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called around 12.55pm on Friday, 1 January, 2020, to a report of a man being assaulted in the Park Drive area of Erskine.

"He sadly died at the scene. Enquiries are at an early stage to establish the full circumstances of what happened.”
